A tolerance agreed late is a negotiation. Agreed early, it is a specification.
Most disputes on a temporary build are not disagreements about measurement. They are disagreements about what the measurement was supposed to prove, discovered once the structure is standing and the schedule has no room in it — an argument the party with the least documentation loses.
